This evening Rory has been trying to let go of things and stand on her own. She's very shaky, she looks a little freaked out, but so very proud of herself.

I'm envisioning the first day of kindergarten and kind of trying not to cry. I might be ridiculous. 

Some friends of ours are really hurting right now. Partly brought on themselves, partly done to each other, and the situation continues to deteriorate. It's hard to witness, but we're trying to be positive and healthy resources.
