Ryan and I decided to be vegan at home! Ryan reserves the right to make a steak at home whenever he wants, and ditto for when we go out to eat, but from now on I only shop and cook vegan.
I've been wanting to do this for a long time. The biggest thing for me to give up is cheese. We're not going total vegan. Here is the plan, it's complicated.
Rather than throwing out the chicken and ground turkey in the freezer, we are going to eat what we have, but only buy vegan from now on. When we go out for dinner, I may get fish, and occasionally, I may buy a tasty cheese. Ryan is concerned about BBQs and his love of steak, and he may enjoy one when we go out to eat.
Rory will also be eating vegan, so far she loves it. She likes hummus, strawberry banana muffins, and cucumber tea sandwiches made on seeded bread with tofu "cream cheese". She'll go from half cow/half almond milk in the morning and evening to all almond. I've done some research into keeping her balances, and B12 is the biggest issue, but I think we've got it covered.
I'm looking forward to giving Rory such a healthy, compassionate start to life. It will be difficult once she starts school, but I think we'll handle it. If we're still vegans. I'm going to give it a month (once the non veg food is out of the kitchen) and then evaluate to see where we are at and if it works for us to continue.

Big news! A change like that would scare me to death.
Why is that? It's just food! You can always start eating it again.
Yes, but I don't like change, especially food-related ones that require a change in planning/shopping/cooking. I spend too much time doing all that as it is, I feel like.
