I'm afraid of overwhelming FB with Roryisms these days, so I'm showing some restraint. Today was:
Me: Did you get to paint the globe today?
Rory: We did, Momma. I painted and painted. And I was so happy.
The kid is an art geek these days. I have, not exaggerating, at least 50 coloring pages she has done in the last two days. Getting tired of printing them (and running out of ink), I ordered three coloring books (Umi Zoomi, Bubble Guppies, and Doc McStuffins themes, her favorite shows) and a giant box of crayons from Amazon. She knows she has a present coming, but she doesn't know what. She insists it could be roller skates (which Grandma Paige just bought her, so she already has).
Rory: What is it?
Me: You'll have to wait and see.
Rory: It might be roller skates.
Me: It's not. You already have roller skates.
Rory: But it might be.
Me: But it's not.
Rory: But it MIGHT be.
Me: It might be. But it isn't.
Rory: But MAYBE.
It's nice being able to do little surprises for her. But when she asked if we could get her a toy guitar, she got waitlisted for Christmas.
She changed her mind about school, and now likes it. There is a little girl named Lila she likes playing with. Lila likes to play with lots of kids, Rory insists she only plays with Lila, and won't give any other kids a chance. So, sometimes Rory plays by herself at recess. I think she'll figure it out in a week or so. She takes time to relax, and holy change already. All the upheavals around here.
I start my job Monday. Rory is spending the weekend at her grandparents, so Ryan and I get to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet before the hectic stuff begins. Tonight we're keeping things classy with dinner at Texas Roadhouse (cheap steak!) and then visiting a vineyard for music outside in this gorgeous weather. And tomorrow I sleep in for the last time EVER, as I will have to be at work at 8 am from now on. What have I done?
