Our weekend

We had a great weekend, Ryan had a fun birthday celebration.  Our Valentine's Day was nice. Ryan took the day off on Thursday, and after we dropped Rory off at school we went out for breakfast together, grabbed coffee, and wandered the (underwhelming) Trader Joe's. I just don't get it. Then we went home and took a nap. Then we picked up the kid, who had scored some serious V-Day swag at school.

We scraped the original plan of a cajun seafood boil, opting to spend the same money and less effort with dinner at Bo Lings. Rory came with, and ordered her own lo mein, and tried to eat all the dumplings. Then we stopped at McCormick and Schmicks for a chocolate bag to go. We put the kid to bed and cuddled up on the couch with champagne, chocolate, a sushi documentary, and the comedic gold of A Fish Called Wanda.

Friday was Ryan's birthday, and I made him breakfast in bed and did party prep while Rory was at school. I made chili and a red velvet pudding cake (a little smooshy). I locked Ryan in the bedroom so I could set up his surprise (while dropping really random hints all week as to what it was). When he came down I had candles lit and told him he was getting a spa night. First up was a foot rub and soak. Then I beckoned him into the dining room so he could decide what kind of cocktail he wanted. Then his friends all jumped out and scared the crap out of him. Chaos ensued.

Rory spent the weekend at her grandparents, so we took our time getting around Saturday. I had a voice lesson. We snuggled and watched TV. I went to the KC ADDY awards and got the word out that I'm doing freelance copywriting (and got a few leads!). Jessica and I closed down Manifesto, I crashed at her place, and Sunday I went home and snuggled some more. Ryan and I had lunch together and the picked up the short chic.

Speaking of the short chic, she had her 3 year check up last week. She is in the 80th percentile for height and like 50th for weight or something. Dr. Fisher looked at her growth records and did some calculation that predicts height and put her at 5'8. Right now she is only 3'2, so she has some time.
