Day 5

So far the most surprising thing is that Rory is actually helpful. Not just pretend helpful and eager. She's the only one who can burp the kid effectively (I think she's willing to pat him harder), she checks on him constantly (and makes sure he has his raccoon), and she holds him while I drink my coffee.

Andrew is dedicated to becoming the chunkiest baby that ever lived. And my boobs are just as eager to help him meet that goal. My milk came in Saturday, and today was the first day of waking up with extreme fullness. I woke up the kid to make them stop. He nursed for TWO HOURS. And then I pumped 4 oz. I already have 2 cups of milk frozen from two days pumping.

My hormones are crashing hard, and I am very sensitive, particularly to anything less than Ryan's undivided attention and devotion. Here's hoping that passes quickly. And since all my calories are flooding out my chest, I have to be VERY conscious of my food intake or I will suddenly find myself very shaky.

We're doing well, though. Rory is home for a couple days, she got very homesick with Grandma and Grandpa, but held out for a few days (which was lovely for us). She's on spring break this week, and Lee and Diana cleared their schedule for the week so they can be here as needed to entertain her. So wonderful.

Diaper change. Rory hands diapers, throws out stinky ones, closes up wipes and lets Andrew hold her finger while he screams.
