Our week

Another lovely rainy day in KC. I've got coffee and hazelnut biscotti and a napping baby. Perfect.

Things are going well here. Rory tried gymnastics on Saturday and loved it. She remembers herself being fantastic at - she was very careful, and didn't fall. I'm hoping this will be a good chance to learn you can be good at something and still make mistakes. Neither of us are big fans of making mistakes or being wrong. Now that dance is done, she'll do gymnastics through the summer.

Sunday Ryan took both kids all day, with instructions that I not do anything I "have" to do. I hit Whole Foods for food I like (butternut squash crab bisque, hazelnut biscotti, spinach salad), came home and read by the window while I ate my lunch and smelled my new peonies.

Yesterday I tried out a new yoga class, Kundalini yoga, which is a blend of meditation and yoga, rather than just yoga for exercise. I went to a women only class, and there was another crunchy mama there, whose 8 month old was climbing into laps during easy pose. I loved it, loved the energy, and felt very unlocked when I left. Great stretching and release for nursing back.

Today Rory and Andrew have pictures with Christina, who has done our photos for years. And then Rory heads to her grandparents for the rest of the week, and I'm really looking forward to that. I think she's been a little bored, and Andrew had another growth spurt, so I think we need a minute to rebalance with him and figure out what his new schedule is. It's also a Rent the Runway day, my dress for tomorrow night arrives. SO excited.

Tomorrow night is Ben Folds and the KC Symphony. We are dropping Andrew off with the above Christina, and then we are heading to Affare for dinner. Then front row seats for Ben Folds. I'm stupid excited. I've wanted to see him live for YEARS and it's finally happening.

We got a few more fun things scheduled for the summer - like cooking classes with another couple and Spamalot for Christie's birthday. All this rain is making it feel like April instead of June, which I am FINE with. Please delay the sweltering heat indefinitely, thanks.

Gracie is very happy to have a baby to be nervous about again.

Keeping an eye on Ryan.

Gorgeous peonies from Whole Foods. This morning the whole first floor smelled like them.

Rory wanted to take a picture together.

Nap time!

Pretty much sums up play time.

A recipe I'm going to attempt for Jessica's birthday.

I think the former Marine put him in the sleeper hold. She says she hummed, but...

Singing along with her game.

As much of the bars as she would do unassisted.

Flips!

She did a great, and careful, job on these.

Rolling over the ball for a back flip. She had no problem with this, either.

My favorite deck pot this year, although I think it's currently drowning.

Decorating the stained tablecloth.

Reading her new chapter books in the library reading tent. Yes, her legs are that long. They fit in length, but are too big in waist, or they fit in waist and are high waters.

Her new library card.

Fancy Nancy day at the library. The story teller brought racks of clothes and the kids went nuts.

Some kids just suffered.

I'm frustrated with you, Mommy.
