Lately

My stress level is astronomical. With getting the house fixed up, the kid in school and dance, paying down surprise medical bills, preparing for two weeks with my kids in New England, and 8 other things I can't talk about yet, I am stretched as far as I go.

I had a great job interview yesterday. I applied on a whim, mostly to keep my interview skills sharpish. I really like the company and I feel I could do the position well. So now I am having major anxiety. Do I abandon Andrew and put him in daycare to make money that will help us get to a better school district and get all this medical debt paid faster? Or do I postpone for six months and chance whatever job I find then?

So, let's focus on the good. I love the smoothie book my cousin got me. I've made three this week. The Cherry Vanilla is a favorite, so is the Raspberry Peach. I like being able to try new things after a run. Easy to make a good decision when there is something new to try.

And speaking of running, I got a new speed PR yesterday (for my 3 mile distance). I've also lost 8 lbs since I started, which is very encouraging. I can't tell if Gracie's athleticism is improving.

Rory has a new teacher this year, Ms. Whitcombe. She loves Rory, she was disappointed when I pulled her out of school for the summer. She recognizes Rory's love of boundaries and rules and appreciates that about her. Tuesday we have an open house to see the classroom and meet the teacher. Wednesday is the first day of school, and she goes for three days. Then Monday we go to New England, and she won't be back to school for a bit.

Today I'm getting my hair colored (goodbye, gray!) and then I have birthday dinner with Christie. Tomorrow I'm making dinner for Bekah and jalapeno dip for Tam's birthday party Saturday. Sunday, Ryan has promised me we will finish the trim in Andrew's room and hopefully get it DONE. That will be an enormous relief.
